    My 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe smells like petrol inside after a dealership service

    The Santa Fe may well have a fuel filter below the rear seat, but it’s almost certainly located on the outside of the car (as in, under the floor) rather than inside under the seat cushion. I’d be very surprised if any of the car’s fuel system or lines ran inside the passenger compartment.

    Which means it’s still possible that some fuel was spilled under the car during the filter change or that there’s even a fuel leak as a result of the change. Either could lead to a smell inside the car, but it shouldn’t persist. If it does, there’s a problem. Take it back to the dealership and ask for the problem to be fixed. If the dealership somehow spilled petrol on the seat trim or allowed fuel to enter the cabin in some other way, they are responsible for fixing it. Driving around in a car with petrol fumes inside is an obvious health and safety issue.

    Should I buy a Kia Sorento 2020?

    The Sorento seems like a pretty good choice. But don’t forget its cousin, the Hyundai Santa Fe which is also a great vehicle. On balance, though, the Kia seems a little better value and has a superior warranty. In fact, the Kia factory warranty of seven years/unlimited kilometres is an industry leader and makes for great long-term peace of mind.

    If you’re happy with the way the Kia drives and works for your family, then there’s no reason not to make that your first choice.

    Hyundai’s Santa Fe is fitted with an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with features such as DAB+ digital radio, wireless smartphone charger, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, at least in top-spec Highlander trim. Remote smartphone-based control is also available, allowing you to lock/unlock the car, start/stop the engine and adjust the climate controls. With seats for seven people, the Santa Fe sports generous interior volume and ample storage space, as these images show. The centre console bin is also cooled, while all doors boast cupholders. Leather trim across the seats and dashboard can be had on higher grades.
