The 2014 Kia Sorento range of configurations is currently priced from $8,990.
Our most recent review of the 2014 Kia Sorento resulted in a score of 7 out of 10 for that particular example.
Carsguide Contributing Journalist Alistair Kennedy had this to say at the time: Kia has made a clear delineation between the Sorento variants which probably makes sense. Petrol: 2WD only, auto only. Diesel: AWD only, manual in Si. However we are not sure though why the top-spec Platinum is only available with the diesel. Surely buyers would want the added refinement of a V6 petrol over a four-door diesel?Kia, like Hyundai, has plenty of confidence in their products and offers the industry best warranty of five years with unlimited kilometres.

This is what Alistair Kennedy liked most about this particular version of the Kia Sorento: Value, Practicality, Standard equipment
The 2014 Kia Sorento carries a braked towing capacity of up to 2000 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Kia Sorento is also known as Naza Sorento (Malaysia), Pyeonghwa Ppeokkuggi 2405 (North Korea) in markets outside Australia.
The Kia Sorento 2014 prices range from $9,680 for the basic trim level SUV Si (4x2) to $19,140 for the top of the range SUV Platinum (4x4).
There are two issues here. The first is that an air-conditioning compressor should not, according to your repair person, stop working at 120,000km. That’s probably debatable and would also be a function of how frequently the air-conditioning runs in your car.
The second issue is that, from the way you’ve described it, this happened within days of the factory warranty expiring. At that point, I think you’d be within your rights to contact Kia’s customer service department and have a chat about the timing of this failure. There are no guarantees here, but it’s possible that Kia might offer some pro-rata assistance with the cost of repairs or parts, given the fault occurred just outside the warranty period. Some companies will do this in some cases as an act of goodwill, but don’t go to the bank on it.
Certainly change the oil and oil filter, and the air filter. You could also replace the coolant, and even change the radiator hoses and clamps. Have the air conditioning serviced, and maybe replace the fluid. Check the brakes for wear and replace if they’re down, replace the brake fluid. Also check the tyres, including the spare, for wear and any signs of damage, and replace if they need it. Obviously set the tyre pressure to the correct pressure for the load it will have.
Check for the Kia dealers that will be in towns along your way, so you can have it serviced if needed while you are away. And regularly check all fluids on the trip.
Both the CX-5 and the Tribeca are good choices; they're capable, well built and reliable. Others to consider are the Kia Sportage and Sorento. While they are Korean like the Captiva, unlike the Captiva they're very good cars, well built and reliable.
