2025 Skoda Epiq: New concept previews upcoming city-sized pure-electric SUV set to charge into battle against combustion competitors like Mazda CX-3, Kia Stonic and Toyota Yaris Cross

Skoda continues to do its share of the heavy-lifting in the Volkswagen Group's drive towards electrification of its brands with the latest newcomer from the Czech Republic; a close-to-production concept version of the upcoming Epiq light SUV.

Positioned as a 'design study' but clearly close to showroom-ready in terms of form and overall proportions, the new city-sized SUV is one of six new electric Skodas scheduled for launch in the short- to medium-term.

Skoda says the production Epiq is due to be unveiled in 2025 with a projected price tag in the region of €25,000 (approximately A$41,000 on a direct currency conversion).

Although just 4.1 metres long the Epiq still seats five, offers up to 490 litres of luggage space and a driving range in excess of 400km. Bi-directional charging also supports V2L (vehicle to load) and V2G (vehicle to grid) functionality.

One area where this Epiq design preview crosses into concept territory is its colour scheme with matt metallic 'Moon White' paintwork contrasted by 'Flashy Orange' detail elements on the roof rails and wheels as well as the front and rear bumpers.

Inside the minimalist two-tier dash features a large multimedia display in the centre with an open storage compartment (including wireless device charging) in the free-floating centre console below it.

The car will be produced at the VW Group's plant in Pamplona, Spain (alongside the VW ID.2 and Cupra Raval) but when asked if the Epiq is planned for sale here a spokesperson for the brand's local subsidiary told CarsGuide, there's "Nothing further to announce for Australia at this moment".
