Skoda opens the product floodgates: from the 2025 Skoda Enyaq electric car, Kodiaq SUV, Octavia sedan and wagon and more - new model onslaught coming to Australia over the next 12 months

From the new Enyaq EV to a facelifted Octavia, there is a lot going on at Skoda over the next 12 months.

Skoda has kicked off 2024 with a three-pronged attack on the Australian new-car market, announcing a run-out version of its compact Kamiq SUV, an entry-level variant of the mid-size Karoq SUV and a value-focused SportLine grade for the Octavia liftback and wagon line-up.

But the Czech brand is just getting started with its determined drive to increase market share, confirming a run of updated and all-new models for local consumption over the next 12 months (and beyond).

Here’s a walk through everything we know so far about the fresh metal and upgraded models coming soon to a Skoda showroom near you.

Q1 2024

The order books are already open for this first quarter trio, so a brief recap is timely.

Kamiq Runout - Slotting in under the existing Style and Monte Carlo models, the Kamiq Runout (that’s its official name) is powered by the Style’s (85kW/200Nm) 1.0-litre three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

At $32,990, drive-away, it undercuts the Style by $5000 but far from a bare bones special it features auto LED headlights, auto rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, a reversing camera (and rear parking sensors), 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start an 8.0-inch multimedia screen and more.

Karoq entry-grade - Powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four sending 110kW/250Nm to the front wheels via an eight-speed auto, this new Karoq model is priced at $39,990, drive-away, which is a shot across the bow of the base RAV4 GX 2WD sitting at $39,760, before on-road costs.

The balancing act between price and equipment lands with standard feature highlights including dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, 18-inch alloy rims, auto LED headlights, an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reversing camera, built-in sat nav and eight-speaker audio.

Octavia SportLine - The fourth-gen Octavia has been in market here for three years and on the back of a recent safety upgrade this new SportLine model, offered in five-door liftback and traditional wagon form, adds extra design and specification spice for the same money as the existing entry-level Style.

Powered by the same 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine as the entry-grade Karoq (above) the SportLine adds additional body elements and a retuned suspension as well as dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, 18-inch alloy rims, auto LED matrix headlights, a power tailgate, large digital screens for media and instrumentation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto rain-sensing wipers, a reversing camera, built-in nav and eight-speaker audio.

And the hits keep coming from this month onward.

April

Kodiaq SportLine run-out - Fast forward to November and a new Kodiaq will be rolling onto the docks, but before then $5000 has been sliced off the drive-away price of the current-gen SportLine grade, cost-of-entry falling from $61,490 to $56,490. According to Skoda Australia arithmetic that’s also a $5K-value upgrade over the Style for $0.

The seven-seat 4WD is powered by a (132kW/320Nm) 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, four-cylinder engine sending drive to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch auto. And standard feature highlights include Matrix LED headlights, Alcantara trim on sports seats and door inserts, electric driver’s seat (with memory function), 20-inch alloy rims, steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles, alloy pedal covers, SportLine body kit (front splitter, rear diffuser, exhaust tips in rear bumper, body-colour door sills), ‘Sports’ inserts in the dash and doors as well as a black roof liner.

June

Kamiq facelift - Scheduled to arrive mid-year the facelifted Kamiq small SUV features a cosmetic refresh including a redesigned grille, headlight cluster and lower bumper as well as cool split-level tail-light graphics and new wheel designs (ranging from 16- to 18-inch diameter).

Two new versions of the 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder (EA211) engines pick up variable (intake and exhaust) valve timing as well as variable-geometry turbos and ‘ten-hole’ injectors for a better air-fuel mixture.

July

Fabia entry-grade - The Fabia light hatch is currently offered in a single, rather premium, Monte Carlo Edition 150 version, pitched at a not insubstantial $38,990 drive-away. It’s chock full of fruit but at that price-point it lines up against the likes of Audi A1, and Mini Hatch and VW Polo GTI.

In similar fashion to the Karoq medium SUV (above) an entry-grade Fabia will be added mid-year with the aim of taking the fight to the likes of MG’s hugely popular MG3, the Suzuki Swift, Toyota Yaris and Mazda2.

Underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s modular ‘MQB-A0’ platform the Fabia is well regarded for its quality and space-efficiency and it’s worth noting that while the Monte Carlo grade is powered by a 110kW/250Nm turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, 1.0-litre three-cylinder powerplants are offered in Europe and other export markets. Watch this space.

Scala facelift - Like the Kamiq small SUV, to which it’s closely related, the Skoda Scala small hatch has been the subject of a mid-life update with the refreshed model scheduled to arrive early in the second half of the year.

Currently offered in 1.0-litre Ambition and 1.5-litre Signature grades, the new model brings two new versions of the three-cylinder (EA211) 1.0L featuring variable (intake and exhaust) valve timing as well as variable-geometry turbos and ‘ten-hole’ injectors for a better air-fuel mixture.

Along with exterior and interior cosmetic tweaks (revised bumpers and grille, redesigned headlights, LED front fog lights and new wheels), the instrument panel is now digital and there are four USB‑C ports with 45 watts of charging power as well as enhanced active and passive safety (including camera-based assistance systems, ‘Front Assist’ with ‘Pedestrian Monitor’, ‘Lane Assist’ and ‘Traffic Sign Recognition’).

Inside there’s a 13.0-inch screen, head-up display, Alcantara trim, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, stainless steel pedal covers, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.

Australia is in line for the Enyaq 85 - 210kW single-electric, RWD with a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds. It’s 82kWh battery facilitates a range of 570km (WLPT) with a 10-80 per cent charging time of around 30 minutes on a fast charger.

Enyaq iV RS - A dual-motor 220kW/460Nm AWD version of the medium EV SUV able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds.

Built on the Volkswagen MEB electric car platform it rolls on 21-inch rims, boasts a 500km range and an 82kWh battery able to be fast-charged from 10-80 per cent in around 36 minutes.

November

Octavia facelift - Highlights for the upgraded version of this popular mid-size liftback and wagon are exterior and interior design “fine-tuning” as well as LED Matrix beam headlights, a 13-inch multimedia display with chatbot ChatGPT to be integrated as standard “at a later date”.

In Europe there are four petrol and two diesel engines with up to 195kW plus mild-hybrid options as well as new safety and assistance systems (it boasts a fresh maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating).

New Kodiaq - A second-generation version of the three-row SUV is scheduled for touchdown in November with an all-new design, plug-in hybrid powertrain options and new in-cabin tech including an up to 13-inch multimedia screen.

The new car is 61mm longer than its predecessor with a close to 2.8m wheelbase and what is claimed to be extra interior space for seven occupants. Boot space with all seats up is 845 litres (+70L) growing to 845 litres with the third row folded.

2025

New Superb - The fourth-generation Superb should be with us by this time next year with what Skoda says is “more space, enhanced design and a more efficient powertrain selection”.

Headline changes include a floating multimedia screen (up to 13.0 inch), Matrix LED headlights, an optional head-up display and a boosted boot capacity thanks to larger dimensions.

For European markets there are three petrol engine choices (one is a mild-hybrid) and two diesels as well as a plug-in hybrid option.

Epiq - The Epiq is currently a compact EV SUV concept but Skoda says the production version is due to be unveiled in 2025 with a projected price tag in the region of €25,000 (approximately $41,000 on a direct currency conversion).

Although just 4.1 metres long the Epiq still seats five, offers up to 490 litres of luggage space and a driving range in excess of 400km. Bi-directional charging also supports V2L (vehicle to load) and V2G (vehicle to grid) functionality.

Beyond 2025

Elroq - A future medium EV SUV.

Space - Large seven-seat EV SUV (based on 2022 Vision 7S concept) to be the brand’s halo offering

Estate - Skoda’s first BEV wagon
