Ford Australia has increased the pricing of two of the Ranger ute’s most popular grades, the range-topping Wildtrak and Raptor.

All three Wildtrak variants are now $300 dearer, while the sole Raptor offering has become $500 more expensive.

As before, the Wildtrak is available with a 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre single-turbo five-cylinder diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual ($63,390 plus on-road costs) or a six-speed torque-converter automatic ($64,590).

The Wildtrak can also be had with a 157kW/500Nm 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that’s matched to a 10-speed torque-converter automatic ($66,090), with the same combination standard in the Raptor ($77,690).

Speaking to CarsGuide, a Ford Australia spokesperson confirmed no changes have been made to the standard specifications of the Toyota HiLux Rogue and Rugged X rivals.

“The price adjustment is consistent with the evaluation of market conditions we regularly undertake across our product portfolio, which take into consideration a number of different external factors,” they said.

For reference, all other Ranger grades are unaffected by this round of changes, with only the flagship variants making moves.

As reported, the next-generation ute is set to be revealed and launched within the next 12 months or so. If you’re interested in what’s in store, click on the relevant story link above.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
