Kia has teased its incoming electric liftback sedan, the EV4, ahead of its official unveiling at Kia EV day in Spain on February 27.

While the photos don’t give much away, what has been revealed is almost entirely consistent with the EV4 concept shown at Kia's 2023 EV day.

Given Kia’s history of its production cars not straying too far from their concept versions, we expect no less from the EV4.

The shrunken-down EV6 silhouette appears to have made it to production almost entirely, so too the unique, tri-spoke aerodynamic rims which were previously spotted on a prototype version testing in South Korea last year.

It is almost certain the EV4 will have physical door handles, which weren’t present on the concept version. A far more conservative interior is also likely to mirror what is offered on its slightly smaller EV3 sibling.

We don’t know exactly what will underpin the EV4, but its positioning between the EV3 and EV5 suggests it will utilise Kia’s front-wheel E-GMP platform with 400-volt architecture.

On the EV3, that includes a 58.3kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt lithium-ion battery on the Standard Range and a bigger 81.4kWh unit on the Long Range. That equates to respective driving ranges of 436km and 605km under the WLTP cycle.

Both units on the EV4 are expected to power a single electric motor mounted to that front axle that delivers a total output north of 150kW and 300Nm.

A production location is still unconfirmed, although the Korea Times has previously reported that production will take place at Kia’s dedicated EV factory in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.

Kia is yet to confirm the EV4 for Australia, although a local launch date before the end of 2025 is expected.

A hatchback version, which has been spotted under testing on the Nurburgring in Germany, is poised to arrive later in 2026, with production rumoured to be set for Kia’s facility in Slovakia.

Pricing for the sedan remains uncertain, although it is expected to start around the $50,000 mark to rival key competitors such as the Tesla Model 3 ($54,900), BYD Seal ($46,990), both at before on-road costs.

Along with the EV4 sedan, Kia has said it will unveil its EV2 light SUV concept at Kia day. However, Kia Australia has confirmed we are highly unlikely to see it locally due to production out of Slovakia presenting logistical and pricing challenges.

Also set for reveal is the PV5 electric van, which will debut on Kia’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle platform for its new line of people movers. Once again, though, we are unlikely to see it in Australia.

Stay tuned for more details on the EV4, EV2 Concept and PV5 following Kia Day later this month.
