Australians love to road trip

Win the ultimate road trip with carsguide.com.au.

Australians love to road trip according to our latest survey.

However, while a huge 99 per cent of respondents to the survey on carsguide.com.au said they would go on a road trip, almost two in five said that money was the one thing stopping them from doing so.

To help, we are currently running a promotion encouraging users to go on their own virtual road trip around carsguide’s new website.

“With our Road Trip promotion, users are taken on a virtual road trip around the carsguide.com.au website to locate a secret keyword. Once found, they can enter a draw to win the ultimate road trip thanks to carsguide.com.au,” Tony Burrett, spokesperson for carsguide.com.au said.

The road trip prize includes:

* Six days of car hire thanks to Europcar

* Six night's accommodation at any Rydges Hotel or Resort

* Tickets to the Moshtix event of your choice

* Plus six weekly runner-up prizes of $100 Moshtix voucher up for grabs. The accommodation element of the road trip prize comes as 44 per cent of respondents thought accommodation was the biggest cost associated with a road trip.

Australia’s geographical presence as being the biggest island in the world means plenty of space with beautiful water views for to explore. Coastal road trips received the biggest thumbs up from Australians with over half of respondents to the survey nominating this type of road trip as the one they would most likely go on. Other findings from the survey include:

* Celebrity party girl Lindsay Lohan was voted celebrity most likely to take on the road trip.

* Surprisingly, Australians preferred to bring their partner (45 per cent) along for a road trip over their family (25 per cent) and friends (20 per cent).

* Road Trip starring Sean William-Scott was the road trip movie most Australians wanted to replicate. National Lampoon’s Vacation came second.

* A quarter of Australians chose the hatchback as the best sort of car to take on a road trip. The van (19 per cent) and convertible (17 per cent) were second and third best respectively.

* A reliable car (41 per cent) followed by a map (20 per cent) were the two most important things to take on a road trip.

“Australians think that a reliable car is the most important thing to take on a road trip. carsguide.com.au has over 77,000 listings online for users to search for the perfect car for their road trip – including hatchbacks and vans, Australians’ most ideal road trip cars,” Burrett said.

Check out the carsguide section of your local newspaper to see more car listings available.

Carsguide.com.au’s national Road Trip promotion, which is the first since Carsguide recently relaunched its website with an easier search platform, runs until April 8.
