The 2025 LDV D90 seven-seat large SUV has been released in Australia after an extended period of the updated version being spotted at local importer Ateco’s headquarters.

Based on the China-market Maxus Territory — a name that, naturally, wouldn’t fly in Australia — the updated LDV D90 moves to a petrol-only line-up in Australia, scores fresh exterior and interior styling and a hefty $6000 price increase over the run-out model.

With its body-on-frame construction and still low starting price of $40,990, drive-away (for ABN holders), the D90 can be considered a cut-price rival to off-road capable large SUVs such as the Ford Everest, Isuzu MU-X, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Prado.

The range remains familiar with an entry-level Mode trim and up-spec Executive (from $44,990 drive-away) in rear- and four-wheel drive.

Accompanying the tougher exterior with LED lighting, extra blacked-out trim and chunky side steps is a fresh petrol engine. The 2.0-litre turbocharged unit has a different displacement and higher compression ratio though is compliant with older Euro 5 emissions standards.

Power and torque are up to 184kW (+19kW) and 410Nm (+60Nm). There’s also a fresh eight-speed automatic transmission and the 160kW/480Nm twin-turbo diesel has been dropped from the range.

The big news is inside, where even the entry-level D90 Mode sees a fair upgrade with new 12.3-inch touchscreen and equally sized digital driver’s display, an eight-speaker sound system and cabled Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

That’s in tandem with new-look materials, synthetic leather upholstery on manual adjust front seats, three USB ports, two power outlets, a built-in dashcam and adaptive cruise control.

A revised cabin layout sees a more contemporary centre stack that opens up the possibility of twin wireless charging pads in the upper trim LDV D90 Executive 2WD ($44,990 drive-away with ABN).

The D90 Executive also gets an eight-way power adjust driver’s seat (with lumbar), a height and reach adjustable steering column, a power tailgate, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a sunroof, ambient lighting and privacy glass.

The D90 Executive is available in 4WD guise from $48,490, drive-away (for ABN holders), and picks up a low-range transfer case, locking centre and rear differentials and terrain control modes.

The D90 has double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear end with coil springs. The 4WD model gets its payload uprated to 820kg from 690kg and all D90s are certified to tow up to a 3000kg braked trailer.

Safety systems standard across all D90 trims include six airbags, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, driver-attention monitoring, lane-keep assist, auto emergency braking (AEB) and more.

For 2025, the new-look D90 has extra colour schemes available, including the pictured 'Spruce Green' hue along with two-tone white/black and grey/black options.
