GMSV has raised the price of its GMC Yukon Denali by $5000 just one month out from deliveries commencing, with the brand’s local operations citing cost challenges.
The eight-seat luxury SUV, which is built at GMC’s facility in Texas before being converted to right-hand drive in Melbourne, will now launch at $174,990, up from its original price of $169,990 (both at before on-road costs).
In a statement, a spokesperson for the brand’s local operation told CarsGuide: “Due to ongoing foreign exchange rate volatility and cost increases, we have needed to review our pricing.”
The spokesperson said that customers who had confirmed their orders in GMSV’s system prior to the price rise would not be impacted by the increase.
At 5338mm long, 2058mm wide, 1941mm tall and with a wheelbase of 3071mm, the Yukon Denali is positioned as a full-size luxury SUV that is designed to compete with everything from the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Nissan Patrol, to the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Its huge frame is powered by a 6.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V8 engine that sends 313kW/624Nm to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment includes a 16.8-inch central multimedia display, dual 12.6-inch rear passenger screens, 16-way power adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, wood trim, leather-accented upholstery and an 18-speaker Bose sound system.

Additionally, there are 24-inch, eight-spoke machined and painted pearl nickel wheels, GMC’s signature Denali chrome grille with LED headlamps and a panoramic power sunroof.
GMSV claims a braked towing capacity in excess of 3500kg, with trailer reverse assist, blind-zone assist and jackknife alert fitted as standard to make towing easier.

Australia's first examples of the Yukon Denali have already been converted at GMSV's facility in Dandenong, with deliveries scheduled to commence across Australia and NZ in May.
The Yukon Denali marks the first car GMC has sold in Australia since the Holden-branded Arcadia was discontinued in 2020 with the closure of the brand.
