This is it - the end has come. Well, for the traditional V8-powered Mercedes-AMG C63 S and E63 S, that is.

Yes, the new-gen hybrid four-cylinder powered models are poised to enter the country in a matter of months and so the last of the V8s are being retired with Mercedes-AMG marking the moment with Final Editions of the C63 S and E63 S.

Mercedes-AMG is offering the Final Edition treatment to its C63 S Cabriolet and Coupe,  plus the E 63 S Sedan in the form of a package.

The Final Edition Package for the C63 S Cabriolet costs $26,400, and $28,400 for the Coupe. That’s on top of the $212,600 list price for Cabriolet and $190,000 for the Coupe.

The Final Edition Package for the E63 S Sedan costs $39,900, again that’s in addition to the $272,000 list price.

For the C63 S Cabriolet and Coupe the Final Edition package brings Manufaktur graphite Grey magno paintwork with yellow and dark grey decals. Cross spoke alloy wheels staggered 19-inch on the front and 20-inch at the rear, plus AMG ceramic brakes.

The Cabriolet receives the Exterior Carbon Package while the Coupe comes with the AMG Aerodynamics Package.

The cabin is outfitted with AMG Performance front seats and an AMG Performance steering wheel with seats in Nappa Grey and black with yellow stitching. The interior also comes with a dark aluminium and matt carbon-fibre trim, plus a Final Edition badge.

An AMG emblem on the C-pillar and a Final Edition badge on the centre console complete the E63 S Sedan’s final edition package.

The Final Edition Packages will go on sale from February 1, with Mercedes-AMG saying they will only be available in highly limited numbers.

Australians can expect the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance to arrive this year and with 500kW and 1020Nm on tap, it'll be more powerful and faster than the outgoing V8. Alas, though, it won't have that glorious V8 rumble.

The best part of this was being given money to buy stickers. She loved stickers… which then turned into a love of tattoos. Out of boredom, she learnt to drive at 14 on her parents’ bush property in what can only be described as a heavily modified Toyota LandCruiser.   At the age of 17 she was told she couldn’t have a V8 Holden ute by her mother, which led to Laura and her father laying in the driveway for three months building a six-cylinder ute with more horsepower than a V8.   Since then she’s only ever owned V8s, with a Ford Falcon XW and a Holden Monaro CV8 part of her collection over the years.  Laura has authored two books and worked as a journalist writing about science, cars, music, TV, cars, art, food, cars, finance, architecture, theatre, cars, film and cars. But, mainly cars.   A wife and parent, her current daily driver is a chopped 1951 Ford Tudor with a V8.
