Honda has announced an extended warranty.

It is a similar model to Mitsubishi's Diamond Advantage, which is a five-plus-five warranty on the condition the vehicle is serviced on time at a main dealer.

For Honda, the warranty term extends the standard five-year coverage (or seven years for select customers) to a maximum of eight with no kilometre limit if serviced on time at main dealers.

The scheme covers HR-V, Civic, ZR-V CR-V, Accord vehicles up to five years old.

Honda models sold new from July 1, 2021 are covered by five services at $199 per visit due annually or every 10,000km. Roadside assistance is also included.

Honda's updated warranty offer joins an increasing number of brands extending ownership terms. Kia's groundbreaking seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty was first, with MG, Skoda, SsangYong, and GWM/Haval now matching that guarantee.

The brand is pushing reliability and low servicing at the moment. Its fortunes are improving with more new models driving a 29 per cent sales jump so far this year.

“Our commitment to enhancing the experience of owning a Honda vehicle and providing joy to our customers is ever growing and prioritised within the business,” said General Manager of Ownership Experience James Greenwood.

“The Honda Extend program is a way for us to acknowledge and recognise our loyal servicing customers who regularly return for service within our Honda Service Centre network,” he added.
