Nissan is gearing up for a new dual-cab ute battle.
The Japanese brand has confirmed its new Navara will be revealed on November 19, before it begins its arm wrestle with the Ford Ranger and the upcoming revised Toyota HiLux.
There are few details confirmed about the new Navara, but we know it will share its underpinnings with the current Mitsubishi Triton.

Nissan to build V6 hybrid Prado rival
Despite its Triton base, company insiders have said it will be very different to the current Triton.
The new Navara is likely to come with diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) grunt, with Nissan global executive Guillaume Cartier confirming to CarsGuide in 2024 it would add petrol plug-in hybrid power during its lifecycle and then go fully electric once the brand's solid state battery ambitions were realised.
This tie-up with alliance partner Mitsubishi could result in a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with a pair of electric motors and a circa-23kWh battery to deliver more grunt than any Navara ahead of it, while slashing fuel use to about 2.0L/100km and pushing EV-only driving range close to 100km. It will need to if it is a hope of unseating the BYD Shark 6 and incoming Ford Ranger PHEV.
It could also use the same 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel motor from the Triton, which makes 150kW and 470Nm.
The Navara is expected to be able to tow 3500kg and carry a one-tonne payload.
Nissan might also employ a two ute strategy Down Under, with local boss Andrew Humberstone previously telling CarsGuide it is a possibility the Chinese-developed Frontier Pro ute could also make its way here at some point.
“New Navara and Frontier Pro together? Oh, yeah, absolutely,” he said to CarsGuide.
“And it wouldn't be one or the other. I would absolutely see an opportunity for both of them (in Australia).
“Everything for sure is being considered. At the moment, all we know is that (the Frontier Pro), and it is a beautiful vehicle, it is available for export.
