BMW has confirmed it’s introducing the new limited-run X5 Shadow Edition to Australia that’s now available for delivery at dealers.
This new X5 special edition is the latest in the line of Shadow Edition models. There was a 3 Series version in 2017, a 1 Series version in 2019 and an X7 version in 2020.
Based on the xDrive30d variant, the X5 Shadow Edition is priced from $146,900 before on-road costs. This is $8300 more than the standard version, but it picks up a range of extra kit as standard.
It gets the M Sport Pro Package with red brake calipers and extended M Shadowline finishes. There are also special 21-inch alloy wheels which are being offered in Australia for the first time.
Other equipment highlights include privacy glass, 16-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, Crafted Clarity glass interior elements, carbon fibre interior trim and an anthracite headliner.
The BMW X5 Shadow Edition is available in four exterior paint colours – M Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, BMW Individual Dravit Grey and Mineral White.
Power comes exclusively from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six diesel engine which produces 210kW of power and 650Nm of torque.
This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system.
BMW claims the X5 Shadow Edition can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds.
In the first six months of 2025 BMW sold a total of 1998 examples of the X5, which is up 24.6 per cent year-on-year. This is the best-selling premium large SUV on sale in Australia.
It was almost pipped at the post by the Land Rover Defender (1968 sales YTD), though is well ahead of rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE (1074 sales YTD), Lexus RX (1008 sales YTD) and Audi Q7 (787 sales YTD).
