Volkswagen Group Australia has revealed pricing for its new Polo Beats edition that will check in at $22,490 plus on-road costs when it arrives in showrooms this August.

Stepping up from the standard six-speed manual to the seven-speed DSG transmission adds $2500 for a $24,990 price tag.

This translates to a $3000 premium over the standard 85TSI Comfortline on which the Polo Beats is based.

An optional driver assistance package that features 'Adaptive Cruise Control', 'Blind Spot Monitor' and 'Park Assist' is available for $1400, and metallic or pearl effect paint is offered for a $500 premium.

The Beats edition features a bespoke 300 watt sound system that was exclusively designed for Volkswagen to provide “reverberating but crystalline sound”.

Accompanying the big stereo is a 10.25-inch screen which can be configured with a choice of read-outs and full screen map and Volkswagen's second-generation 'Active Info' display.

Distinguishing itself from the rest of the sixth-generation Polo range, the Beats sports unique badging, decorative dash inserts, two-tone upholstery and 16-inch alloys.

Three exterior colours are offered including the no-cost red, optional white/silver metallic and deep pearl black, all highlighted by a single stripe on the bonnet.

Other standard features include LED tail-lights, black door mirrors, wireless phone charging, 'Comfort Sport' seats, satellite-navigation and a safety package that consists of 'Front Assist with City Emergency Braking' and pedestrian monitoring, driver fatigue detection, a tyre pressure monitor and rearview camera.

Motivating the car is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque.

Volkswagen Group Australia managing director Michael Bartsch explained the new Beats variant was a unique way to attract younger buyers.

“We hear a great deal about carmakers pursuing a ‘younger’ demographic. This usually amounts to a basic car in jellybean colours” he said “We don’t have to make a noise about the Polo Beats because its message to aspirational buyers is loud and clear,"said Mr Bartsch.
