The Sport is the entry point into the Mazda CX-9 range and with a list price of $43,890 for the front-wheel drive and $47,890 for the all-wheel drive, it’s the most affordable grade in the line-up.
Standard features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen (with rotary controller), sat nav, six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, push-button ignition, three-zone climate control, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, cloth seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The CX-9 scored the maximum five-star ANCAP rating when it was tested in 2016. Coming standard even on this base grade is an impressive amount of advanced safety equipment including auto emergency braking (AEB) that works going forward and in reverse, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.
All Mazda CX-9s come with a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine which makes 170kW and 420Nm. With the six-speed automatic transmission Mazda says the CX-9 should consume 91 RON at 8.4L/100km in the front-wheel drive and 8.9L/100km in the all-wheel drive during combined driving conditions.
