Reckon your GT is fast? This one's just hit 483km/h at the Texas Mile!

By Iain KellyIain Kelly

There are currently a handful of crazy hypercars capable of soaring past the 250mph barrier, and most of them need MENSA-level science as well as bulk distance to achieve their mind-bending top speeds.

And then there is this street-registered Ford GT which has run 300.4mph (483.44km/h) in under 1.6km from a standing start!

M2K Motorsports tuned the second-generation Ford GT’s 5.4-litre V8 to produce over 2000hp at the wheels, or an estimated 2500hp at the crank, but nobody is sure as they haven’t found a dyno to hold it. They know it is making plenty of snot, however, as they blew away records for the standing mile at Victoria Regional Airport at the legendary Texas Mile top-speed contest.

It’s astounding to think the a 14-year-old supercar which is renowned for having difficult aero can beat the best from Bugatti and Koenigsegg. We can’t wait to see if someone is crazy enough to tune-up an Agera RS!

What car do you think can outrun this GT? Let us know in the comments.
