The rear-drive, V8-powered Mazda 6 bogans would love

Rear-wheel drive, V8-powered sedans are becoming something of a rarity these days, so no one would expect Mazda to turn its 6 sedan into a muscle car.

Well, don’t get too excited, because Mazda isn’t introducing a RWD, V8 version of the 6, but Chinese company OMAS has built one for a customer.

Wanting more power, the owner ditched the original 2.0-litre engine for a 2.5-litre unit, before supercharging it.

Clearly still not satisfied, he turned to a OMAS for a V8 and not an LS like most people are obsessed with, but a Toyota 3UZ instead.

Taken from a Lexus LS430, the 4.3-litre engine currently makes 225kW/400Nm at the wheels, but the horsepower-mad owner is expected to bump those numbers up.

Other Toyota components include the auto also from an LS430, plus the sub-frame and drivetrain donated from an ’08 Toyota Crown. Everything else remains stock… for now.

Despite the chopping and changing needed to fit the new gear, the sedan looks like any other Mazda6 inside and out, under the bonnet is even the original engine cover.

Should Mazda and Toyota join forces to create a RWD, V8-powered 6? Let us know in the comments.
