Will it fit in my Honda? This '81 Accord has the heart of a Tesla

By Mitchell TulkMitchell Tulk

Forget V8 engine swaps, electric conversions are the way of the future.

A few months back, US YouTube star, Jimmy Built revealed his 1981 Honda Accord with the powerplant from a Tesla Model S P85.

Called the 'Teslonda', the Tesla motor has been combined with a Chevy Volt battery pack and placed into a car that weighs only 1106kg. That’s over a tonne lighter than the P85 model.

Power is said to be 400kW, meaning it's way quicker than a P plater's Accord with a fart cannon and Type R stickers.

The Teslonda originally recorded a 0-60mph (97km/h) time of 2.7sec, but in this video Jimmy reached the 60 mark in 2.48sec, similar to the top spec Tesla Model S P100D

Just how quick do you think the Teslonda can go? Let us know in the comments.
