Volkswagen’s Golf line-up will expand to seven variants for 2025, as the brand announces a pricing reshuffle.
The Golf Life will kick off the range at $38,690, before on-road costs, $500 cheaper than last year.
New pricing puts it at a $7380 premium over a Mazda3 G20 Pure ($31,390), $6370 more than a Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport ($32,320) and $9690 more than a Hyundai i30, all before on-road costs.
It adds a new 10.3-inch multimedia screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a “more powerful” wireless phone charger, while maintaining 17-inch alloys, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
Metallic paint is the only optional extra for $800.
A new Style variant builds on these features with a larger 12.9-inch multimedia screen with voice control and integrated navigation, 18-inch wheels, 30-colour ambient lighting, a 14-way power adjustable driver’s seat and 'microfleece' upholstery throughout the five-seat cabin.
It serves as the new midway point between the Style and Golf R-Line, and is priced at $43,690, before on-road costs.
The Golf R-Line will now start at $47,990, before on-road costs, $5700 more than last year.
Standard features include unique 18-inch alloys, 'Sport' drive-mode configuration, R-Line exterior badging, leather-appointed upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats with driver’s seat memory functions.

All three variants are powered by the same 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, four-cylinder engine that delivers 110kW/250Nm to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The more performance-focused GTI and R, meanwhile, carry a 2.0-litre version, which delivers 195kW/370Nm on the GTI, which is an increase of 15kW. It gets revised steering and 'Adaptive Chassis Control' to account for the power boost.
A set of 19-inch alloys – up from 18-inches – are now fitted standard with a tyre package, along with metallic paint, fog lights, new Park Assist plus and tri-zone climate.

Customers can opt for leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display or a Harman Kardon sound system through additional optioning, while the GTI’s cops a $2900 increase for a new starting price of $58,990, before on-road costs.
The flagship Golf R steps up by $400 to $70,990, before on-road costs, and adds an extra 10kW in the process for a total output of 245kW/400Nm. A torque vectoring axle joins 'Sport ESC', 'Special', 'Nurburgring' and 'Drift' performance drive modes.
It steps up from the rest of the range with matrix LED headlights, premium LED tail-lights, Nappa leather upholstery, Harman Kardon audio and 19-inch alloys separating it from the rest of the range.

A new Golf R Black Edition variant headlines the range with a smattering of black accents across the car's interior and exterior, including standard black paint. It starts at $72,490, before on-road costs.
Volkswagen sold 2929 examples of the Golf last year, a decrease of 18.5 per cent on the previous year.
The Volkswagen Golf will launch in Australia this April.
