Audi is hoping more power is the key to unlocking more sales for its e-tron GT electric sports sedan.
The e-tron GT has struggled compared to its ‘twin-under-the-skin’ Porsche Taycan, with Audi selling just 84 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT in 2024, compared to Porsche’s 282 examples of its electric car.
To combat this, the upgraded e-tron GT range introduces two new variants, both with more power than the out-going model. The new flagship is the RS e-tron GT Performance, which is the most powerful production car the four-ring brand has ever offered. It sits above the RS e-tron GT and the new S e-tron GT; which replaces the previous entry-level model known only as the e-tron GT.
This new hero model produces 680kW and 1027Nm, a whopping 205kW increase on the pre-facelifted RS e-tron GT. Not that the RS e-tron GT has stood still, it has an additional 155kW of power, taking it to 630kW/865Nm. Even the new S e-tron GT boasts more power than the previous RS, with 500kW/717Nm (the previous RS has 475kW/830Nm).
The RS models also get a new ‘Boost’ button on the steering wheel that offers an extra 70kW but only for 10 seconds - with a large countdown timer appearing on the digital dashboard when you press it. There’s also a new ‘RS’ button for customisable drive mode settings.
To feed these more powerful motors Audi has enhanced the battery. It now has higher energy density (168.3Wh/kg), more size (105kWh v 97kWh), faster charging (10-80 per cent in 18 minutes) and reduced weight (down 9kg).
Driving ranges for the three models are rated at 558km (S e-tron GT), 522km (RS e-tron GT) and 528km (RS e-tron GT Performance).

In terms of specification highlights the S e-tron gets 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering, HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser lights and a panoramic fixed glass roof.
The RS e-tron GT has its unique 21-inch wheel design, a panoramic glass sunroof with a new switchable transparency, performance brakes with a carbide coating and an RS specific virtual cockpit design. While the RS e-tron GT Performance also gets its own 21-inch alloy wheels, active suspension and a specific RS Performance exterior electric sound system as standard.

The range begins at $209,900 for the S e-tron GT, moves to $264,900 for the RS e-tron GT and tops out at $309,900 for the new RS e-tron GT Performance (all prices exclude on-road costs).
