Alfa Romeo is in the middle of launching one of its most important models in decades, but there are a bunch of new models on the horizon that should get the Alfisti excited.
The famed Italian brand has just launched the new Junior sub-compact hybrid and electric SUV tasked with leading Alfa’s EV push. It will be the company’s entry model but fear not - Alfa has not forgotten its favourites.
The mid-size pair - the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV - are set for replacement sooner than you might expect. But there are even more new Alfa models coming.
The Stellantis-owned brand has confirmed plans to launch a new model every year from 2024 through to 2027 - the year it transitions to an all-electric carmaker.
Speaking to CarsGuide at the international first drive of the Junior Elettrica Veloce in Italy, Alfa Romeo Head of Products Daniel Guzzafame said Alfa doesn't have plans to offer a model smaller than the Junior crossover - for now.
“We don't have anything smaller than that. Again, we will see with the market, if there will be a downsizing trend. We will follow it, of course, keeping the concept of something that needs to be Alfa Romeo on one side and if not, now we have a plan,” he said.

Guzzafame confirmed Alfa’s plans to launch an all-new Stelvio in 2025 followed by a new Giulia in 2026.
“Next year we will renew the Stelvio, then it will be the Giulia, and after that … in [20]27 we're working on something going up,” he said.
When asked to clarify if this was a bigger model, Guzzafame added: “Yeah, a new segment. Something on the slightly bigger... something new.”

Alfa is rumoured to be developing a large electric SUV to sit above the Stelvio due for release in 2027. It will go head to head with large EV SUVs like the BMW iX and Audi Q6 e-tron, as well as the upcoming all -electric version of Porsche's Cayenne.
The new model rollout started in 2023 with the Tonale small SUV, which has been followed this year by the Junior. The latter is a twin under the skin of fellow Stellantis brand, Jeep’s Avenger, which hits Australian shores in around October.
It’s not yet clear what the designs of the next-generation Giulia and Stelvio will look like but according to Alejandro Mosonero-Romanos, VP of Alfa Romeo Design, it’s unlikely to follow the design lead of the edgy new Junior.

“Speaking about Giulia and Stelvio, we will see something, again, evolving the spirit of current Giulia and Stelvio sure, but again, with a mindset in a future way not in a really evolutionary way.”
One thing is for sure, the mid-sized pair will be electric. It is highly likely that they will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Large architecture that underpins the new electric Dodge Charger and has 400 and 800-volt architecture.

The shift to EV begs the question - what will happen to the beloved Quadrifoglio performance models?
According to Guzzafame, Q models will live on in the electric era. He highlighted the fact that the badge has been applied to a variety of different models and powertrains over the years, from V8s to a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol engine.

“So it has different souls,” he said. “Of course we are developing something that will be very specific and very true in terms of driving dynamics, to the soul of Quadrifoglio and then with different interpretations of course, even different than what was done before. But that's why it's fantastic. Because it is a way to explore, it is a way to define new stuff.”
The Giulia has been on sale globally since 2015 and the Stelvio launched a year after. Both are based on the Giorgio platform that also underpins the current Jeep Grand Cherokee and a number of Maserati models.
