The BMW 3 Series has hit a big milestone Down Under.
The iconic luxury sedan is celebrating its 50th year on sale in Australia, and has released a special edition to commemorate the occasion.
Dubbed the 3 Series 50 Jahre Edition, it is based on the M340i variant and brings a few special touches.
It comes finished in Anthracite Metallic paint, which is metallic black coal in regular-speak, and there is a special edition build plate located on the centre console.
It wears 19-inch jet black light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes with red calipers, M seat belts, black rear spoiler and carbon fibre interior trim.
Power comes from the a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine that makes 285kW and 500Nm, matched to an eight-speed auto driving all four wheels, which is the same set-up found in the standard M340i.

BMW is only offering 50 examples of the special edition in Australia priced from $127,600 (before on-road costs).
The first customer deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
The 3 Series is still a strong seller for the brand moving about 850 units so far this year, despite the big decline in mid-size sedans sales nationally the past decade.
The 3 Series is the top-selling premium mid-size sedan so far this year, beating the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A5 (formerly known as the A4).
