What looks to be a completely overhauled version of the Chery Tiggo 7 has surfaced in documents filed with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The new car debuts a new styling language for Chery, with a grille design which takes up nearly the entire front panel, and a close to minimalistic approach taken for its doors and rear panel.
Also featured is a new light profile front and rear with a contemporary LED bar connecting across the tailgate, as well as sunken doorhandles and aerodynamic wheel designs.
Hints of the old car remain in its traditional SUV silhouette and the oddly-shaped gloss black detail panel which integrates the rear window behind the door.
As is usual with the images filed with the ministry, the interior is yet to be revealed, although four wheel designs feature.
Specs also filed with the ministry reveal the new Tiggo 7 will be wider and longer, with an extended wheelbase but slightly less overall height, in a similar set of changes to the new Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new car measures 4655mm long (+120mm), 1880mm wide (-16mm) and 1690mm tall (-12mm) with a 2720mm wheelbase (+67mm).

Chinese media reports the new car will be equipped with a carryover 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 115kW/230Nm, which appears to be paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission in base versions of the Tiggo 7 in the Chinese market.
In Australia meanwhile, current Tiggo 7s are only available with the higher-grade 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder engine matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch auto in either front- or all-wheel drive.
It is unclear when the new Tiggo 7 will launch, but it’s worth noting it’s not necessarily a clear path for Chery models entering Australia. The Tiggo range is vast and consists of multiple versions, of which only one in each size-bracket is made available in right-hand drive.
Regardless, Chery’s Australian division has been contacted for comment on the new car.
Next up for Chery in Australia is the arrival of plug-in hybrid versions of the current Tiggo 7 and its Tiggo 8 three-row sibling.
They arrive with unprecedented price-tags, just $39,990, drive-away, for the base Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid Urban, or $45,990, drive-away, for the same grade of Tiggo 8.
On the back of its existing range of keenly priced models, year-on-year Chery sales are up a whopping 228.8 per cent in the first half of 2025, the brand moving 14,123 units so far. It could even have a shot at a place in the top 10 in Australia over the course of 2026 if it continues at its current pace.
