Third in the four-car 6 range is the GT, priced from $43,990 to $46,390. The 2.5-litre petrol picks up a turbo, with power jumping to 170kW and torque soaring to 420Nm. The 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel stays, with its 140kW and 450Nm.
The price jump brings 19-inch alloys, active LED headlights, black or white leather seats, power heated and folding mirrors, power windows, electric seats, 11 Bose-branded speakers, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel and gear shifter, sat nav, keyless entry and start, active cruise control, adaptive front lighting, front and rear parking sensors, heated front and rear seats and a space-saver spare.
Mazda's reputation for loading up with safety gear remains undimmed with the new 6 - it has six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, high beam control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise control, forward and reversing AEB, reverse-cross traffic alert, reversing camera and traffic sign recognition.
