Second in the range is the 6 Touring, which adds the option of the 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. As with the Sport, you have a choice of sedan or wagon body styles. It's priced from $36,690 to $40,990, with those down by around $500 on the outgoing model.
It's a big financial step up, but for your extra money you'll get 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, leather seats, power heated and folding mirrors, power windows, electric seats, 11 Bose-branded speakers, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, a leather steering wheel and gear shifter, sat nav, keyless entry and start, active cruise control and front and rear parking sensors.
Mazda's reputation for loading up with safety gear remains undimmed with the new 6. It has six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, high beam control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise control, forward and reversing AEB, reverse cross-traffic alert, reversing camera and traffic sign recognition.
Mazda's MZD Connect touchscreen handles the media (including DAB radio) and sat nav duties on an 8.0-inch touchscreen with rotary dial control.
