The 2014 Mazda 6 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1600 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Mazda 6 is also known as Mazda Atenza (China and Japan) in markets outside Australia.
The Mazda 6 2014 prices range from $10,340 for the basic trim level Wagon Sport to $19,910 for the top of the range Wagon Atenza.
It is rated to tow 750 kg if the trailer doesn’t have any brakes, or 1600 kg if it does have brakes. The Passat diesel will also tow 750 kg with an unbraked trailer, but 1500 kg when the trailer has brakes. There are no major concerns with either of them.
You'll find most cars will be noisy on that type of surface and I'd be loath to recommend one without having driven it on your roads. Another possible solution if you like the Mazda 6 is to remove the rear seats and install some sound deadening on the wheel arches.
Mazda spokeswoman Karla Leach might have the answer for you, as well as some good news on sun damage: “The angle of the windscreen is very similar to the previous model but in the current model car has moved 100mm rearward relative to the previous model. However, the windscreen blocks out 100 per cent of UVA and UVB rays, and 46 per cent of heat. The side windows block out 91 per cent UVA and 100 per cent of UVB rays.”
