This dusty old Falcon is set for its first public appearance in nearly three decades with a collection of other rare Aussie metal.
Last time we brought you a story about the Ford XA Falcon GT, nicknamed Mothball, the sedan was sitting in a shed collecting dust… a lot of dust.
Since then, the muscle car has been lifted by a crane from its hidey hole and is heading to Shannon’s first Survivor Car and Barn Find Show Spectacular, hosted by OverSteer’s own Aaron Lofts.
The story of Mothball started in the early ‘70s when a man named Pat wanted a Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase IV, but thanks to the 'Supercar Scare', he received a GT instead.
Over time, Pat added go-fast bits to his XA GT before eventually selling it in 1977.
By 1989, the current owner of the Falcon, Neil, had it parked up in the shed, where Mothball would stay until now.
There will be more than 100 classic cars on display at the event including an ex-police Holden VK Commodore that was also used as a drag car by the boys in blue, as well as the first ever built Holden LC Torana GTR XU1.
Mothball won’t be the only barn find present with a mustard Chrysler VG Valiant Pacer also making an appearance.
Joining the cars will be a few famous names such as Allan Moffat, Fred Gibson and John Harvey.
The event will be held Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of March at Shannons Showroom in Heatherton, Victoria.
