The 2025 Honda HR-V has arrived with more safety equipment, revised interior design, more sound deadening and — rarely — a lower price.
The revised HR-V Vi X petrol starts at $34,900 drive-away, which is the same as Honda was offering on run-out MY23 models and $1800 less than the prior year model's list price.
That's a starting price of around $2500 less than the entry-level Toyota Corolla Cross GX petrol once on-road costs are taken into account.
It is fitted with an unchanged 89kW/145Nm 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder and CVT automatic.
Honda has also added a new, lower-cost e:HEV X hybrid HR-V variant priced from $39,900 drive-away.
The second hybrid in the range utilises the same powertrain at the top-spec e:HEV L 2WD, a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine and electric motor developing 96kW and 253Nm.
The most generous price cut will be applied to the top-spec e:HEV L 2WD, which will start at $42,900 drive-away, down from the original $47,000 list price and a handy $1000 cheaper than the MY23 run-out price.

In addition to a price-cut, each variant has gets minor exterior and interior design upgrades, such as a more simplified, squared off grille, as well as darkened trim between the grille and bonnet.
Hybrid variants also receive auto high-beam, while at the rear, each HR-V variant receives LED taillights with a new horizontal design.
Inside, Honda has tweaked the HR-V’s centre console, adding a larger upper tray to house bigger smartphones and a lower tray that is designed to be more accessible from the passenger position. USB-C and USB-A charging ports are now standard in the front cabin as well.

The HR-V’s power steering has been revised, delivering what Honda says is enhanced high speed stability and more predictable feel, while higher density soundproofing will improve cabin acoustics across the range.
Hybrid grades benefit from retuned dampers for an improved ride, while Honda says it has refined the hybrid engine’s power control unit software for better throttle response and more natural transition between hybrid and electric power.
Honda has added extra safety features to its Honda Sensing Suite which will now come standard across the range.

These include auto emergency braking upgrades to detect front crossing traffic, cyclists and pedestrians, road departure mitigation, lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality.
The vital safety upgrades come after the HR-V was rated four stars against ANCAP's 2022 crash safety testing criteria. Honda was recently called out by ANCAP for providing different safety gear for Australian-market models compared to those sold overseas.
A new ‘Slate Grey’ colour has been added, along with ‘Botanical Green’, which will only be available on hybrid variants.
