The Toyota C-HR Koba, at $49,990, has heated sports seats with synthetic suede trim as an upgrade over the base GXL, plus power adjustment for the driver’s seat and a digital rearview mirror.
Convenience additions come in the form of a wireless smartphone charger, a head-up display and a 12.3-inch driver display, plus adaptive high-beam headlights, while a nine-speaker JBL sound system and 64-colour ambient lighting add to the vibes.
The C-HR Koba shares a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor with the GXL, driving the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission for a total output of 103kW.
The Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes pre-collision assist, active cruise control, speed limit sign assist, covers off most of the passive safety, along with surround-view parking cameras, 10 airbags and rear ISOFIX points for child seats.
Toyota’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty covers the C-HR, plus capped-price servicing for the first five years or 75,000km, whichever comes first. Each 12-month/15,000km service costs $250.
