The Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the last cars you would dream of turning into a track day warrior, however for one Aussie bloke, that far-fetched fantasy has become a reality.

But lowering a second-gen Outlander plus adding an exhaust system and aftermarket wheels can only do so much, especially with a not-so-sporty 2.4-litre four-cylinder.

So, Alvin Prakash has taken things to the next level by ripping the guts out of his SUV and slowly replacing everything with parts from a Lancer Evo X.

Taking the Evo's subframe, brakes, suspension, transfer case, differentials, five-speed manual and engine will no doubt transform the Outlander into a WRX eater.

From factory, the 2.0-litre turbo made 217kW/366Nm, but this four-banger has a reputation for being easily tunable so expect it to push out more grunt.

The project is far from done, but keep up-to-date with Alvin's progress through his Instagram page.
