Cadillac has revealed pricing and specifications for its debut model in Australia, the all-new, fully electric Lyriq large SUV.

The GM-owned automaker prepares to open order books later this month, with the Lyriq to be offered in two variants in Australia: the Luxury, priced at $117,000 before on-road costs, and the Sport, priced at $119,000 before on-road costs.

That’s nearly $12,000 cheaper than key rivals such as the BMW iX, which starts at $130,900 before on-road costs. And then there's the Audi Q8 e-tron, which starts at $153,984 before on-road costs.

Cadillac says it has prioritised ride quality over performance on the Lyriq, with GM’s brand new Ultium battery architecture – which distributes battery weight evenly across the floor – working in unison with five-link suspension, premium dampers and active noise cancellation to deliver a quiet, comfortable ride.

Having said that, both variants still deliver a healthy 388kW of power to all four wheels, with a single electric motor on each axle. Paired to a 102kWh battery pack, Cadillac claims the Lyriq will do 530km on a single charge.

With 190kW DC fast charging capability as standard, Cadillac says 128km of range can be delivered in just 10 minutes of charging.

Headlining features found on both variants are 21-inch alloy wheels, a curved 33-inch LED dashboard which doubles as a digital driver’s display and multimedia screen, an AKG 19-speaker audio system – which includes headrest speakers – and a fully glass roof with a power sunshade.

The primary differences between both variants is cosmetics. The Luxury is cladded with chrome trims, while the Sport features darkened trims on the front grille, wheels, front and rear fascia, windows, body side mouldings as well as body-coloured door handles.

Exclusive of trims, both variants are virtually identical in terms of exterior design. The long nose, closed-off grille and vertical LED running lights create an imposing, futuristic design at the front while a fastback and a sweeping LED light bar help give it a sportier look at the rear.

The interior is defined by premium materials with perforated leather upholstery made available in four colour options. From the seats it extends to the centre armrests, upper instrument panel and doors where it is also met with chrome trim.

There’s the additional option of quilted Nappa leather upholstery, which comes available in two further colours.

Driver and passenger seats get lumbar massage functions as well as heating and ventilation, which is also offered on the two outboard seats in the second row.

Tri-zone automatic climate control circulates air around the entire cabin, while there’s a 126-colour ambient lighting system as well.

The Lyriq features seven airbags along with active driver safety assist features such as forward collision alert, rear pedestrian alert, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

Both variants are covered by a five-year/unlimited-km warranty and an eight-year/160,000km electric vehicle propulsion battery warranty.
