Black is back in fashion.

Porsche is the latest brand to add some blacked-out special editions to its line-up, with the stealth look now back in vogue.

The German sports car brand will bring Black Editions of its Taycan electric grand tourer and Cayenne SUV to Australia by the end of this year.

The special editions have been revealed ahead of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK and bring some serious road presence to the select vehicles and even a bigger battery in the Taycan.

As the name suggests Porsche has added a mass of black exterior and interior highlights to the cars.

The Taycan has black window trims, rear badging and side mirrors among other touches.

It also has an illuminated black Porsche logo on the rear light bar.

Inside there are black touches throughout including brushed black aluminium door sill guards.

At its core the Taycan Black Edition has a 105kWh battery, up from the standard 89kWh unit. This battery is usually a roughly $12,000 upgrade.

Porsche hasn’t said just how much range this adds, but this upgrade adds about 100km of range — bringing the total up to about 650km — when optioned in other Taycan variants.

It also brings a power bump, with the electric motors pumping out 300kW in the base Taycan Black Edition and up to 320kW in the other grades.

The Taycan also adds a head-up display, privacy glass, digital radio, heated sterling wheel, adaptive cruise control and Sports Chrono pack on the higher grade versions among other items.

The Cayenne adds numerous blacked-out design elements, as well as 21-inch wheels, matrix LED headlights, LED door projectors, Porsche logos in the headrest and the Storage pack.

All Black Edition Cayenne variants score a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and digital radio. Hybrid versions get a tyre repair kit and the S hybrid grade has seat ventilation for the font seats. The petrol grades get a collapsible 20-inch spare tyre.

But if black-on-black isn't your thing, you can get the Black Editions with any base paint colour available on the regular car to help the highlights stand out.
