The Subaru Forester Premium is a specific variant that adds a small number of extra features to the base Forester AWD, but isn’t available with a hybrid drivetrain unlike the rest of the line-up.
For $46,490, the Forester AWD Premium adds electrically adjustable front seats, sat nav, auto-dipping and folding exterior mirrors as well as auto door-mirror adjustment via the driver monitoring system, plus there’s a hands-free tailgate.
This is on top of the 18-inch wheels, auto LED headlights, dual-zone climate, heated front seats and electric folding rear seats, wireless phone charger and an 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There’s 496 litres of boot space (as with all non-hybrid Foresters) or 1174L with the rear seats down. The non-hybrid Forester also gets a space-saver spare wheel.
Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated flat-four ‘boxer’ engine that makes 136kW and 247Nm. Subaru claims the Forester drinks 7.9L of petrol (91RON min) per 100km of driving.
A maximum five-star ANCAP rating and nine airbags mean peace-of mind in case of the worst, but there’s also plenty of active safety tech including adaptive cruise, emergency lane-keep and centering with departure warnings, pre-collision braking, auto emergency steering, driver monitoring and a feature which slows the car to a safe stop if it detects the driver is unresponsive.
Subaru‘s five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty covers the Forester, and servicing intervals are every 15,000km or 12 months.
